Dans les mines profondes verticales, lorsque l'explosif est encartouché, une cartouche ne peut être introduite en chute libre que si le bruit d'arrivée au fond de la cartouche précédente a été perçu ; en cas d'incertitude, la position de cette cartouche est vérifiée à l'aide d'un bourroir.
