Cap. 255 Art. 33Recognition of foreign decisions or other equivalent official acts affecting status of married persons.

Without prejudice to the implementation of any regulation applicable between the Member States of the European Union, a decision of a foreign court or a decision or other official act of equivalent effect of a foreign competent authority on the status of a married person or affecting such status shall be recognised for all purposes of law in Malta if the decision is given or if the other official act is issued by a court or a competent authority of the country in which either of the parties to the proceedings is domiciled or of which either of such parties is a citizen.
