S.L. 363.1 Art. 21Cheques, direct payments, etc.

(1) All cheques shall bear the Council’s coat of arms and shall be ordered by the Secretary, who shall ensure their safe custody and proper use.

(2) Cheques issued by the Council for payment shall -

(a) bear the joint signatures of the Mayor and the Secretary;

(b) be prepared correctly;

(c) not be post-dated;

(d) not be signed without bearing the amount or payee name.

(3) Cheques, direct payments and inter-bank transfers or payments shall be authorised by the Council according to order 32 of the Standing Orders contained in the Sixth Schedule to the Act.
