(1) The rules laid down in the Principles Governing the

Organisation of Veterinary Checks on Products Entering the Territory of Malta from Third Countries Regulations shall apply in particular to the organisation of, and follow-up to the checks to be carried out by the Member States and the safeguard measures to be applied in accordance with the procedure referred to in regulation 19 of the said regulations.

(2) Pending implementation of the decisions provided for in regulation 8(6) of the Principles Governing the Organisation of

Veterinary Checks on Animals Entering the Community from Third Countries via Border Inspection Posts of the Territory of Malta Regulations, the relevant provisions of sub-regulations (1) and (2) of the said regulation shall continue to apply, without prejudice to compliance with the principles and rules referred to in sub-rule (1).
