S.L. 549.44 Art. 26ASpeciesprotection notice.

(1) When the competent authority is of the opinion that a species has an unfavourable conservation status or has a conservation status trend which is in decline, the competent authority may issue a species protection notice and may take further steps for the protection of such species as it deems necessary. The notice shall be valid for a definite or indefinite period, as stipulated in the species protection notice itself.

(2) Species protection notice made under this regulation may contain such conditions or other provisions as the competent authority may deem necessary or expedient for the protection of the species, which may include prohibitions on the carrying out activities and, or works which may potentially cause harm. The competent authority shall publish the details of such species protection notice in the Gazette and on the competent authority’s website.
