Cap. 93 Art. 22ATransfer of pensions,gratuities and allowances.

(1) Pensions, gratuities and allowances payable under the

Pensions Ordinance may be transferred to the EU Scheme by an officer who leaves the service in Malta and assumes service with an

EU Institution. A request to this effect shall be made by the officer concerned and addressed to the Minister.

(2) For the purpose of this regulation, EU Scheme means the pension scheme provided for officers of EU Institutions in accordance with Articles 77 to 84, and Annex VII, of Council Regulation (EEC Euratom, ECSC) No. 259/68 laying down staff regulations for officials and the conditions of employment of other services of the European Union: Provided that the officer must satisfy the criteria listed under Article 11(2) of Annex VIII of the said Council Regulation: Provided further that such transfer may not be exercised more than once.
