In these Standing Orders, unless the context otherwise requires -"the Act" means the Health Care Professions Act; "the Council" means the Medical Council constituted by article 9 of the Act; "licence" means a licence to practise the profession of medical practioner or dental surgeon; "practitioner" means a person who practises the profession of medical practioner or dental surgeon; "Member State" means a member state of the European Union, a state within the European Economic Area, Switzerland or any other state as the Minister may prescribe;

"the Minister" means the Minister responsible for health.
