Where a Maltese intermediary carries out insurance distribution or reinsurance distribution activities through a branch in a

Member State or EEA State, other than Malta, in exercise of a European right, the competent authority may, after having first informed the European regulatory authority of the host Member State, carry out itself or through a person it appoints for that purpose, on-site inspections in relation to the distribution activities carried out by the branch of the Maltese intermediary.
