There shall be a unit within the Bank which shall have sole responsibility in Malta to analyse suspected counterfeit euro banknotes and euro coins in accordance with Council Regulation

(EC) No 1338/2001 of 28 June 2001 laying down measures necessary for the protection of the euro against counterfeiting, as may be subsequently amended, and to carry out any tasks or duties consequential thereto.
