Cap. 363 Art. 23Elections to follow dissolution of Council.

(1) Upon the dissolution of the Council in accordance with article 22, or if all the elected councillors have resigned and no other councillors can be elected in accordance with the Third

Schedule, or if the Council cannot function for whatever reason, the

Electoral Commission shall, within thirty days, hold an election for the new Council:

Provided that no election shall be held where the remaining term of office of the dissolved Council is less then six months.

(2) The Minister shall within fifteen days from the dissolution of the Council, appoint a Committee of Management chaired by the President of the Association or his representative which shall perform all such duties as are competent on the Council until a new Council is elected: Provided that until a Committee of Management is appointed, the Executive Secretary shall perform all such duties as are competent on the Local Council.

(3) The newly elected Council shall hold office for the remainder of the term applicable to the dissolved Council.
