(1) The title of these rules is the Official Control of

Foodstuffs Rules.

(2) The scope of these rules is to implement the rules found under European Union Council Directive 89/397/EEC of the 14th June, 1989 on the official control of foodstuffs and in accordance with articles 22 and 23 of the Veterinary Services Act.

(3) These rules lay down the general principles for the performance of official control of foodstuffs and shall apply without prejudice to the provisions adopted in the context of more specific Community rules, but shall not apply to metrological control.
