S.L. 427.23 Art. 22Sale and entry into service of components and separate technical units.

(1) The approval authority shall allow the sale or entry into service of components or separate technical units only if they comply with the requirements of the relevant regulatory acts and are properly marked in accordance with regulation 19.

(2) Sub-regulation (1) shall not apply in the case of components or separate technical units which are specifically constructed or designed for new vehicles not covered by these regulations.

(3) The approval authority may allow the sale and entry into service of components or separate technical units that have been exempted from one or more provisions of a regulatory act in application of regulation 20 or are intended for mounting on vehicles covered by approvals granted under regulation 21 that concern the component or separate technical unit in question.

(4) By way of derogation from sub-regulation (1), and unless otherwise provided for in a regulatory act, the approval authority may permit the sale and entry into service in Malta of components or separate technical units that are intended for mounting on vehicles which, at the time of their entry into service, were not required, by these regulations or by the Motor Vehicles (EC Type-approval) Regulations, 2002.
