(1) The title of these regulations is the European

Community Methods of Sampling for Official Control of Pesticide Residues in and on Products of Plant and Animal Origin Regulations.

(2) The scope of these regulations is to implement the rules found under European Union Council Directive 2002/63/EEC establishing Community methods of sampling for the official control of pesticide residues in and on products of plant and animal origin and in accordance with the provisions of article 5 of the Pesticides Control Act. The aforementioned Directive’s provisions apply to the sampling of products of plant and animal origin in order to determine the level of pesticide residues for the purposes of European Union Directives 76/895/EEC, 86/362/EEC, 86/363/ EEC and 90/ 642/EEC and do not affect the sampling strategy, sampling levels and frequency as specified in Annexes III and IV to European Union Council Directive 96/23/EC on measures to monitor certain substances and residues thereof in live animals and animal products: Provided that European Union Council Directives 76/895/ EEC, 86/362/EEC and 90/642/EEC were transposed under the Maximum Residue Level of Pesticides in Produce of Plant Origin Regulations.
